IHRA Pro-Am Tour Results from Day 1

Pro20Am20Logo_copyThe first day of the IHRA Pro-AM tour has concluded at Palm Beach International Raceway’s quarter-mile, all-concrete road course. More than 100 cars came out to race and saw beautiful conditions all day long.

Gates open at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow for another full day of racing action in the following classes: Hot Rod, Stock Eliminator, Quick Rod, Super Stock, Super Rod, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman.

The results of Saturday’s races are:

Hot Rod:

Champion: Sal Damico out of West Palm Beach, Fla. powered his ’69 Camaro to 10.953 ET (elapsed time) over R. L. Koontz’s 10.936 in a ’92 Beretta. Damico had a stellar reaction time of .028 over Koontz’ .069 light.

Stock Eliminator:

Michael Mayhew drove his ’77 Cutlass to a 12.071 ET over Chris Puzycki’s 12.186 in his ’80 Maliubu. Mayhew, who hails from Savannah, Georgia, had a .035 reaction time.

Quick Rod:

Out of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Ron Raymond took his ’03 Dragster to the IHRA Winner Circle with a 8.903 ET over Von Skinner’s 8.888 ET.

Super Stock:

Brien Radley, from Belleveiw, Fla., defeated number one qualifier Glen Mace in the final round of Super Stock action with a 10.644 ET over Mace’s 11.048 ET.

Super Rod:

Jason McCandless took top honors in the Super Rod class when his opponent, Jerry Heffelfinger fouled out on the line. McCandless, from Naples, Fla., drove his ’02 Vette Roadster to a 10.277 ET.

Top Dragster:

Trae Miller defeated number one qualifier Melissa Hutson for the trophy in Top Dragster. Miller ran a 7.424 ET over Hutson’s 8.567.

Top Sportsman:

Norm Williams drove his ’08 Cobalt to a 7.740 ET over Bob Barnes’ 7.689 ET. Williams was quick off the line with a .013 reaction time to Barnes’ .033.
