As the Palm Beach Grand Prix and Speed Festival weekend came to a close, there was a big smile on the face of Brian Johnson. Throughout the weekend, rides were given around the road course in a variety of cars with all proceeds going to Johnson’s charity at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
The Sarasota Memorial Hospital houses the Brian Johnson Music Therapy Room, where ill children can enjoy some fun with music. Johnson is the lead singer in AC/DC.
Spectators could take laps around the Palm Beach International Raceway road course for a minimum of $50. One fan, Victor Gonzalez, of Brian Johnson donated $1,000 to have Johnson take him around the track.
“I’m speechless,” said Gonzalez. “The ride was phenomenal. But the whole time I was thinking ‘I’m in the car with Brian Johnson.’”
Throughout the entire Palm Beach Grand Prix and Speed Festival weekend, more than $12,000 was raised for the Brian Johnson Music Therapy Room at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Brian and his wife Brenda have promised to match what was raised on Sunday.
“It’s absolutely phenomenal,” said Brian Johnson. “It’s people like Victor that help these charities. All the people that came out today to help the cause, it’s just been great.”
