The Palm Beach County Beat the Heat (BTH) team traveled to Chattanooga, Tennessee, for the 2011 Beat The Heat World Finals over the September 10-11th weekend. Palm Beach County’s team was one of the six teams in attendance representing Florida.
After the yearly member’s meeting and workshop on Friday, the team headed to Brainerd Optimist Raceway in Georgia. Several hundred local teens attended the event and tried their luck at challenging the Law Enforcement Officers on the track. The younger guests visited with the BTH teams that were set up in the pit area.
The teams provided educational materials, t-shirts, race car pictures, and other items of interest to the youngsters. Many had the opportunity to sit in the race cars for pictures and meet with the drivers.

On Saturday, it was the BTH members that took to the track against each other. The Palm Beach County team made it to the semifinal round in the Pro-Cop class.

The overall event was won by a Sheriff’s team out of Ohio but Palm Beach County was able to come home with the 2011 World’s Quickest Cop award.
