Jupiter, Fla.-- Several young cancer patients racing for life, got the opportunity of a life time Thursday, November 6th, 2008, at the newly renovated Palm Beach International Raceway. Greeted by track officials, 2005 American Le Mans Series Rookie of the Year, Guy Cosmo and four time Indy 500 Winner, Rick Mears; the kids were invited to be one of the first persons on the PBIR state of the art, 2 mile eleven turn road course. One of the cars they rode in was the Orbit Racing’s Porsche 911 Cup car.
Â
This private invitation was extended after the new track owners’ became aware of a local fourteen year old cancer patient’s “bucket list†through the Connor Moran Children’s Cancer Foundation. Zach Finestone was diagnosed shortly after he turned six in March of 2000, with Neuroblastoma. The disease has been a very adversarial opponent, and recently doctors told Zach and his parents, he had six weeks to live. Zach, only weeks earlier had seen the movie, The Bucket List, featuring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, and like in the movie, began to make a list of things he wanted to do before he died. At the top of his checklist; to ride in the fastest machines on four wheels.
