Charlie Kimball, driving the No. 35 Team PBIR Dallara, started a season high of sixth on the grid for the 30-lap event. Kimball maintained his lap position after the race start and on Lap 8 the caution flag was thrown moving him to fifth. The driver of the No. 35 car maintained his position and turned his fastest lap on Lap 27. The final lap proved to be historic for Kimball because he edged another position and finished a season-high fourth.

Driving for the first time under the Team PBIR banner, Richard Philippe qualified ninth at the 3.37-mile track. The No. 37 Team PBIR driver started to gain momentum and on Lap 8 was in eighth. Philippe strategically held his track position and on Lap 20 moved up another spot into seventh. On Lap 26, Philippe ran his fastest lap of the race and on the following lap he advanced another position to sixth. Philippe finished fifth in the Corning 100.
